TOP 10 SONGS OF 2013

Posted: December 31, 2013 in Countdown

So, as 2013 draws to a close, the NSOR team have put their heads together, gazed into their crystal ball and put together a list of songs that made 2013 awesome (yeah, i’m going to be using the “awesome-word” more often). We’ve put together our list of “Top 10 songs of 2013″. Without further ado, here are the “Top 10 songs of 2013″ in no particular order.

1. FUN– Fun is one band that broke out in 2013 with awesome singles like “We are young” and “Some nights”. It was impossible to not turn the radio/Tv and not hear the sweet sound of FUN. “Carry on” was the song that helped them stay on the mainstream and rock scene.

2. Fall Out Boy– When it comes to Punk rock fans don’t have to look further than Fall Out Boy. The band released their 5th studio album “Save rock and roll” on April 12, 2013 and had a hit with their single “My songs know what you did in the dark (Light ‘em up”)

3. Passenger– This guy took hold of the mainstream and rock charts with the single, “Let go”. The song was simple and yet had so much emotion behind it.

4. Bastille– We’ve written about this band several times. Bastille had their big break through with the release of their fourth single, “Pompeii” and reached number 2 in the United Kingdom. They are a delight to listen to.

5. Paramore– Paramore returned to the music scene with their smash hit single “Still into you”. The single had a more upbeat and fun side of the punk/emo rock band.

6. OneRepublic– OneRepublic saw another incredible year when it comes to their awesome album, “Native”. The single “Counting stars” took over the billboard hot 100, becoming their 1st top 10 hit since “Good life” in 2010.

7. Kings Of Leon– These guys have been churning out infectious and thought provoking lyrics for 15 years and “Beautiful war” is no exception.

8. 30 Seconds To Mars– They’ve continued to impress fans and critics with their musical ability and vocal range. Thirty Seconds to Mars still hasn’t found a large amount of mainstream success but with hits like “City of Angels” that day is not far away….not anymore.

9. Avril Lavigne– The Queen of punk rock returned to the music industry in 2013 with a self-titled album and single that fans loved. “Here’s to never growing up” quickly topped the charts and reminded music fans of the power of Avril Lavigne.

10. Sick Puppies– Sick Puppies know a thing or two about creating rock radio hits, and “There’s No Going Back” is among the band’s most infectious tunes ever. The lead single off their “Connect” album featured an awesome chorus that gets stuck in your head upon first listen, making it one of the catchiest hard rock songs of the year, in my opinion.

There we go then – 10 songs of 2013. Let us know your thoughts, and whether or not your favourite made the list. You could also tell us the tracks you think we missed, by leaving a comment.
